One suicide, two attempts

In a chain of suicide cases reported at Sassoon Hospital last night, one person died, while two were saved by hospital staffers.

Tragic: Sassoon Hospital officials were kept on their toes as suicide
cases were rolled in last night.

In the first case, Kothrud resident Arun Marne (45), committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his residence in Sagar Colony, Shastri Nagar. According to officials from Kothrud police station, Marne was at home with his wife and mother when he went to the bedroom and consumed some pesticide.

"After he became very uneasy, he came out and told his wife. They rushed him to the nearest hospital but he didn't survive there. His family does not know why he would take this step," said a constable.

In the second case, 26-year-old Kamal Rajesh Kamble was rushed from his residence in Saswad to Sassoon Hospital after some primary treatment at a local clinic.

"He took some unknown medicines and we had to flush his stomach. Now he is stable but under observation," said casualty medical officer at Sassoon Hospital.

While Kamble was brought in around 11 pm, another woman was rushed in by her family around 12.30 am after she had attempted suicide by consuming phenol.

The woman identified as Chinky Krushna Travidan (20), a resident of Ghorpadi, refused to reveal the causeu00a0 of her purported suicide attempt and maintained that she had consumed phenol.
