Domestic gas distributing agencies are claiming that the present scenario is creating utter confusion, and if the state government decides to continue with six subsidised cylinders per year, they will be able to provide only three cylinders at the subsidised rate in this financial year.
Chairman of All India LPG Dealers Distributors Federation, Vijay Bhave, said, “At this moment, we cannot provide three subsidised cylinders for each domestic customer, as per the directives issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. We are registering every subsidised cylinder by issuing a receipt. There are no further instructions regarding non-subsidised gas cylinders from the ministry as to when booking will commence.”

“The situation will be more pathetic for us when registration of non-subsidised gas cylinders will start wherein customers may claim that they did not usurp their three subsidised cylinders,” said Bhave.
According to Bhave, each domestic gas cylinder customer will have to fill a consumer information sheet or Know Your Customer with detailed information. “We have to submit this information by Oct 31,” said Bhave.u00a0
No octroi on gas
PMC’s Law Committee, yesterday, unanimously took a decision to abolish octroi on LPG domestic gas cylinders forever. Datta Bahirat, Chairman, Law Committee, said, “Every year we remove the octroi by conducting a meeting, but for the first time ‘no tax for ever’ was mooted in the meeting. Now, there will not be octroi on gas.”
