Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, among others, mourned the passing away of Pandit Ravi Shankar.
Twitter was flooded with messages expressing sadness over Grammy award-winning musician Pandit Ravi Shankar's death. He was 92 and passed away at a hospital in the United States today.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called the him "a national treasure and global ambassador of India's cultural heritage."
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar was the legendary musician who gave new identity to Indian classical music. May his soul rest in peace."
Member of Parliament (MP) Milind Deora posted - "Being a maestro wasn't his only achievement. Pandit Ravi Shankar sold Brand India better than anyone else. RIP."
Industrialist and MP Naveen Jindal said, "Legendary sitar maestro, Pandit Ravi Shankar is no more. May his soul rest in peace."
Farhan Akhtar and Kabir Bedi too remembered the maestro in their tweets.
