New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the passing away of noted architect Charles Correa and said his architectural marvels are widely cherished.

Prime Minister Modi's Office took to Twitter to convey his message.
'My deepest condolences on the passing away of the noted architect, Mr. Charles Correa. May his soul rest in peace,' said Prime Minister Modi.
'Mr. Charles Correa's architectural marvels are widely cherished, reflecting his brilliance, innovative zeal and wonderful aesthetic sense,' he added.
Correa was credited for modern architecture in post-Independence India. He was known for his sensitivity to the needs of the urban poor and for his use of traditional methods and materials.
Correa had been awarded the Padma Shri in 1972, and second highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan in 2006.
He was also awarded the 1984 Royal Gold Medal for architecture by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
