After a delay of over two weeks at last the Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) has declared the online results of Mid-School Scholarship (MSS) and High-School Scholarship (HSS) Exam results on Thursday.

Pass percentage for scholarship exam drops by 14 per cent

Compared to last year, the MSS passing result has drastically dropped by 14 per cent as this year’s passing percentage is only 52.23 per cent. On the other hand the HSS result has increased by three percent, which is 51.61 percent.u00a0

In MSS out of 9,33,905 students appearing for the exams across the state 4,87,857 students have passed in the exam and out of the passed students only 16,683 will become eligible for a monthly scholarship for the next three academic years. For HSS, out of a total of 6,67,649 students who appeared, 3,44,588 passed in the exam and 16,641 are eligible for a monthly scholarship.

Incidentally, the number of students appearing for both these exams has also dropped significantly this year. Last year, for MSS a total of 11, 20,066 students appeared and the number for HSS was 7,43,295.

It was expected that MSCE would come up with the results on May 1. Even some top MSCE officials were confident last month about declaring results on May 1 so that all school students will get the scholarship result along with their annual result.

When asked, MSCE chairperson H I Shinde, said, “We have conducted the scholarship exams on March 23, which was earlier scheduled on March 13. As the exam was postponed by 10 days, the result also got delayed subsequently.”

However, he refused to answer questions related to acute decrease in result percentage as well as the total number of students appearing for the exams.

In MSS, a total of seven students scored 300/300 marks. In HSS the topper has secure 288 marks out of 300. The online result is available for students on www.msce pune.in website. u00a0
