School authorities ask parents to pay hiked fees today or let their wards go without examinations
In another twist to the ongoing fee hike debate at Rosary school, the management has sent notice to parents (a copy of it is available with MiD DAY) that states children would not be allowed to write exams until fees were paid.
In April, MiD DAY had first reported how the school had decided to hike its fees. Since then, parents of students of Rosary school have been protesting against the management through hunger strikes and police complaints. A parent and member of the management even came to blows over the issue.
In the latest development, the school has quoted a high court order allowing private unaided institutions to hike fees and have given a deadline of October 15 to pay up.
If not, then students, who have not paid the fees, wouldn't be allowed to write exams that start on October 18.
However refusing to give up their fight, the parents' association has announced that they wouldn't pay the revised fees until they are reworked and made reasonable.
No let-up
"We will protest against this force applied by the school but would not compromise by paying unreasonable fees. If they hike fees in accordance to the facilities offered by them and agree to hike by appropriate sum, then we are ready to pay up. But not if they demand any amount," said Ajay Sathe, a parent representative.
Despite several attempts, management of Rosary School could not be contacted for comment.
