Chaos following a youth being run over by a tempo

Angered by apparent police inaction, a mob of around fifty people went on a rampage and vandalised several vehicles including a police Gypsy and some low-floor buses in Adarsh Nagar area of northwest Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.



A 28-year-old youth was crushed to death by a speeding tempo while crossing the road. The errant tempo driver tried to flee from the scene abandoning the vehicle. But the mob chased after him, caught him and handed him over to the cops.

People turned violent after the police allegedly tried to help the accused tempo driver. The mob attacked the cops sitting in a police gypsy and vandalised it. The main road of Adarsh Nagar area was blocked by the mob for half-an-hour.

Extra police force was deployed to bring the situation under control. The mob only calmed down when senior police officials assured they would take action against the accused tempo driver.Meanwhile, a senior police official said that the deceased was identified as Rinku, a local resident. He was returning home after praying in a temple along with his brother when he met with the accident.


Teenage Driver kills tow

Two persons sleeping on a pavement in west Delhi were killed on Tuesday when a teenage college student lost control over his car and crushed them, police said.
The incident took place in Tilak Nagar area at around 12:25 am apparently after the car got flat tyre, a senior police official said. The victims, in their early thir
"Ankit lost control over the vehicle near the flyover and swerved towards the pavement. Two persons sleeping on the pavement got crushed under the wheels," a police official said.
