Althoughu00a0load shedding has resumed in the city owing to paucity of power in the state, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has promised its consumers a bright Diwali. Officials said there would be no load shedding after 6 pm on the day of Lakshmi Puja, and they will try to do the same on other days of Diwali as well.
On the day of Lakshmi Puja, the all-important worshipping of the Goddess of Wealth takes place and it is signified by light and brightness. The ritual involves lighting of all the lamps in the house to invite the goddess to bless the house with wealth and prosperity.
Officials said load shedding would be carried out for an hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon. Areas which will have load shedding for two hours in the morning will be exempted from power cut in the afternoon and vice versa.
The timings and duration of load shedding for each area will be decided by the various divisional and circle offices in the city. The power cut timings in the morning will be between 8 am and 10 am, while in the evening it will be between 4 pm and 6 pm. The state is currently facing a cumulative shortfall of 3,000 megawatts.
