With Rs 1453 crore in its pocket from Pranab Mukherjee's 2011-12 budget, Delhi Metro's Phase-III is all set to pick up speed. Spread over 104 km, the total cost of Phase- III has been estimated at Rs 28,000 crore which will be executed in next four years.
The corridors in this segment cover outer Delhi areas such as Bawana, Ring Metro Railway, NCR expansion to Faridabad and one more line for Walled City.u00a0u00a0
Sources here in Delhi government said, out of Rs Rs 1,453.34 crore allotted, Rs 771.8 crore is for the balance project cost of Phase II, while the equity allocated for expansion to the Delhi Metro is Rs 452 crore, Delhi Metro would get an additional grant of Rs 101.28 crore.
Last year, DMRC had a lion's share of Rs 3,000 crore in the budget. The cost of the second phase was Rs 19,131 crore. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is yet to complete two small sections - the 3.5-kilometre Ashok Park-Kirti Nagar line and the 2.57-kilometre Anand Vihar-Vaishali section.
