A Delhi police constable, identified as Tanveer, was allegedly shot dead by property dealers Ravinder and Pradeep, residents of Ranhola area, on Wednesday night. Reportedly, the dealers wanted to grab an empty plot in the area and Tanveer was looking into the matter.

On the ill-fated night, Tanveer was alone at his rented accommodation when he was shot five times. DCP (west) V Renganathan said they received a call in this regard around 11 pm. "The body has been sent for post-mortem. We came to know he had an argument with two builders of the area and raids have been conducted at their homes. Pradeep was nabbed while Ravinder managed to flee," said the DCP.

The official further stated that Pradeep broke down during interrogation and confessed his crime. He told the cops that because of Tanveer, they were not able to get hold of the plot and so they decided to eliminate him. The DCP said on 22 August, police had received a call regarding a scuffle in the area.

Tanveer was sent to the spot to look into the matter. "One Shyamveer had called the police. He said Ravinder and Pradeep were claiming ownership of his plot. Tanveer later found out that the plot actually belonged to Shyamveer," said the DCP. The duo then left the place, threatening the constable of dire consequences.

Later that month, the duo had another argument with a local and Tanveer was once again sent to sort out the issue. He arrested them under Section 107/151 of CrPC. Ravinder, who is on the run at present, has a notorious record. He had once opened fire at a government official. Pradeep too has been involved in several cases.
