Fatima Nagar society residents catch 4 women in compromising position with 'clients', but fail to hold on to them till cops can be called; owner names agent she approached to find tenant, says she knew nothing about illegal activities
The owner of a flat in Fatima Nagar got a rude shock when she discovered a prostitution racket was being run there. The owner (name withheld to protect privacy) said she had asked an estate agent, Netra Dudhania, to look for a tenant and was unaware of these happenings. According to society members, the agent had given the flat on rent without informing the owner, who lives in a different part of the city.

Upon suspecting a prostitution racket was being run in one of the flats on the third floor, angry residents went to give the occupants of the flat a piece of their mind and found four women in their 20s in a compromising position with some men. But the people in the flat managed to run away before the residents could inform the police.

The women left behind their luggage in the flat, managing to take away only their cell phones. The people indulging in the immoral activities took advantage of the confusion and shock among residents of Neelay Apartment to escape, which spoilt the chances of arrest of the person running the racket.

The prostitution racket was discovered by two residents, who noticed unknown men moving in and out of the flat on the third floor and decided to see for themselves what was on. Around 11.30 am society chairperson Wahida Ansari accompanied by Nessema Khan knocked on the door of Flat No A-7 and found four women wearing "indecent clothes" along with a man in his early thirties.
Even as Ansari and Khan threatened to hand over the women to the police, they brushed passed them and managed to run away. After this, Ansari, Khan and the owner of the flat locked it from outside and informed the Wanawadi police. Ansari said other society members had told her the owner had sold the flat to another woman without informing the society members or completing the legal formalities.
Cops summon agent
MiD DAY contacted the owner of the flat and she said she had contacted Netra Dudhania to rent out the flat. She said she got a rude shock when residents from the society informed her about the illegal activities going on inside the flat. Police Inspector (Crime) Ajit Khadake of the Wanwadi police station said: "If the residents would have alerted us a little earlier, we would have successfully arrested the women and we could have easily traced the person who forced these women into prostitution. We have called the agent for inquiry."

Ansari and Khan said that though the women in the flat ran away, they were able to have a brief conversation with them. Ansari and Khan said the women in the lat told them they paid the agent Rs 1,500 per day. They said one of the women hailed from Jamshethpur while the other claimed to be a resident of Chandani Chowk.
