Pune traffic department gears up for Ganpati

The traffic cops have planned several diversions and alternate routes in an attempt to both clear the flow of traffic on the roads and prevent any untoward incidents; diversions will come into effect from today and will continue till September 8

With Ganeshotsav now on in earnest, the Traffic department is on its toes, trying to ensure that the festival passes smoothly in Pune.

Security is paramount this year, especially considering that the July blast at the Faraskhana-Vishrambaug police compound occurred so close to the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai temple.

The Traffic police have already planned several diversions and alternate routes in an attempt to both clear the flow of traffic on the roads, as well as prevent any untoward incidents. The traffic diversions will come into effect from today, and will continue till September 8.

In order to spread the word, the department has posted information about its arrangements for the festival on its website, as well as Facebook and Twitter.
