Pvt hospitals submit Rs 77-lakh claim for treating blast victims

Five private hospitals that between them treated 49 people injured in the February 13 German Bakery blast have sent the bills to the District Collectorate.

Five private hospitals that between them treated 49 people injured in the February 13 German Bakery blast have sent the bills to the District Collectorate. They are together claiming Rs 77.01 lakh.u00a0

After the Valentine's Day eve terrorist attack, the state government had announced that blast victims undergoing treatment in private hospitals should not be charged a single paisa by the hospitals and that their bills would be paid by the state.

"We have received bills of five hospitals so far; Inlaks hospital has given the highest bill of Rs 34.71 lakh," said an official from the Health Department of the Collectorate. "Ruby Hall, Jehangir, Sancheti and KEM hospital have also submitted their bills."

While Inlaks asked Rs 34.71 lakh for treating 14 patients, Jehangir has submitted bills totalling Rs 28.08 lakh for treating 13 patients.

Ruby Hall Clinic asked for Rs 7.23 lakh for six patients. KEM had four patients and submitted a claim for Rs 5.84 lakh. Sancheti said it spent Rs 1.15 lakh on two patients.

So far the District Collectorate has spent Rs 1.69 crore by way of compensation to blast victims.
