The railways plans to implement stringent rules to slam the brakes on the free run of touts at the ticket booking service.
From December 15th, people wishing to reserve tickets on long distance trains will have to carry some identity proof.

In order to curb malpractices in booking tickets and to check touting activities, the Railways has decided that from December 15, 2012, people seeking a ticket for themselves at one of the reservation counters of the Mumbai Division of WR will have to carry an original ID along with valid self-attested photocopy of his ID.
The Railways has also decided that if a person is seeking to buy a ticket for somebody other than themselves then they will have to carry their own original ID along with the original ID of the person for whom ticket is to be booked and a self-attested photocopy of the IDs.
