t-shirts.
The case reminds one of the brutal beating of a Dalit girl at the hands of policemen in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh on February 5.
Dr Deepak Kalra told the police that he saw some men entering an enclosure inside the showroom with a baseball bat and heard cries of a boy. When he tried to enquire the showroom manager Satyendra told him that it was an "internal matter" and he should not intervene in it. At this Dr Kalra got suspicious and called up the police.
Kalra said he heard the showroom staff saying, "We will teach him a lesson."
The manager told the police that the boy was caught stealing seven t-shirts.
"We took statements of Kalra and the boy who had tried to steal the t-shirts. After preliminary investigations, we registered a case against the showroom manager under sections 342 (unlawful detention) and 323 (causing hurt) at the Connaught Place police station," said a senior police official posted at the Connaught place Police station.
Satyendra is out on bail now and further investigations are on, the official said.u00a0u00a0
