The temperature is likely to be on the lower side with partially cloudy sky and dust storms or thunderstorms in some areas, said an official at Safdarjung Met office.
?The dust particles suspended in the sky will prevent sunlight from reaching the earth and heating it, so there will be a fall in day temperatures over the next two days,? added the official.
The official forecast a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius Monday and a minimum of 27 degrees C.
The maximum temperature recorded Sunday was 39.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 16.3 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal for this time of year.
The dust haze Saturday had made it stuffy, adding to the discomfort of Delhiites coping with the heat. On Friday, the capital recorded 44.2 degrees Celsius - the highest this season.
?During the day, I was at least able to step out in the sun - without feeling like I was burning. I was afraid that my plan to go to the market would be ruined but since it wasn't too hot I managed to convince my family to go out,? said Geetanjali Verma, a BPO employee.
