Respiratory trouble follows fire at Devachi Urali

Some 3,000 people living around Devachi Urali are suffering from respiratory problems after a fire broke out at the garbage dumping site of the Pune Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.

Some 3,000 people living around Devachi Urali are suffering from respiratory problems after a fire broke out at the garbage dumping site of the Pune Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.

Fire brigade officials and the PMC authorities claim that the fire is an annual phenomenon and that it continues for almost a month.

Sushama Bhadale-Patil (28), wife of Tatya Bhadale, sarpanch of Devachi Urali, said she had a severe throat infection due to the smoke. Her three-year-old son Prithviraj also had a cough.

Mayor Mohan Singh Rajpal said, "There is a need for additional water tankers,I am in midst of arranging
for these."
