If you can risk being the butt of stand up comedian Sorabh's Pant's evil digs then get ready for the Pantathon
An email request for photographs to stand-up comedian Sorabh Pant, will usually end up in a response like this: "Please find attached the few photographs in which I looked moderately tolerable. Kindly keep away from children, as the evil within them has the power to destroy a young mind."
An interview with him will have him trying to feed and convince you with incredulously, untrue statements like actor Deepika Padukone is from Mumbai or Dr Raaj Kumar acted in the famous flick Mother India. Convincing you about these out-and-out lies is part of Pant's stand up act.
Pant, the comedian from Mumbai who could almost be a stunt double of Vinod Kambli, is here this Friday with his show titled Pant On Fire to convince you about all this and more.
"It is my time to give it back to all who messed me up in school when I was all of 5'2 inches and weighed 84 kilos. So now it's time for people to hear whatever I have to say," says Pant, who jokingly confides that his immense craving for attention paved the way of his becoming a stand up comedian.
Born on 14 September 1981, Sorabh Pant describes himself as a writer, who switched to being a comedian. After being a comedy columnist with Man's World, Yuva, Noise Factory, Sunday MiD Day, Hindustan Times and other newspapers and magazines, Pant decided to devote his time and energy totally to stand up comedy. Pant On Fire, a one and a half hour show, is a comical take on the current scenario around the world and its future repercussions.
"I am a desi bred comedian and my show is all about modern India. It is an experimental and topical illustration where the audience gets to hear about everything that has been happening over the last one month," says funnyman Pant, who believes that Bangalore audience laugh only when presented with intelligent humour.
In a 15-minute-long segment dedicated to Bangalore, Pant will be taking potshots at incidents that have been doing rounds in the city for the last one-month. From a reading session on the imaginary book titled How To Survive Scandal by the Tamil actress Ranjitha to the woes of urbanisation, Pant has every reason to make you get stitches in your sides.
"Whatever I will talk about are real bites from newspapers and television channels but in their most unrecognizable forms," says Pant, who claims that rehearsing like a maniac is his secret to success.
So if you are ready to hear famous and infamous celebs and news items being poked fun at in a frank and brutal manner, get ready to roll on the floor with Pant On Fire.
