India's largest Tricolour, measuring 48X72 ft and costing Rs 28 lakh, may soon adorn the India Gate lawns, if the proposal submitted by Flag Foundation of India (FFI) founded by industrialist and MP Naveen Jindal is passed.
India's largest Tricolour, measuring 48X72 ft and costing Rs 28 lakh, may soon adorn the India Gate lawns, if the proposal submitted by Flag Foundation of India (FFI) founded by industrialist and MP Naveen Jindal is passed.
"We plan to install the monumental flag before the Commonwealth Games in 2010," said retired commanderu00a0 K V Singh, advisor, FFI.
Weather resistant
The 12-tonne flag will be polyester-knitted, while the rod and rope will be made of high-tension steel.

The base diameter of the flag will be 12.50 m and have an area of 3,500 sq ft. India has two monumental flags installed in Kaithal and Ladwa, Haryana. Many more are in the planning stage.
