The rupee gained 14 paise against the dollar to climb to a six-week high at 45.87 in the early trade on Wednesday in line with other firming Asian currencies.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee appreciated by 14 paise to trade at 45.87 a dollar. Yesterday, the rupee had ended 9 paise higher at 46.01/02.

Forex dealers said continued capital inflows into equities by foreign funds and dollar's weakness overseas mainly lifted the rupee sentiment.
