>>Stick and stroke: The exhibition showcases a variety of work, all dealing with the core theme of violence against women. There are charcoal drawings and bronze sculptures casted in traditional bronze casting techniques. Oil-on canvas figurative paintings are also part of the show. In spite of the dark subject, Eleena has used an array of bright colours to put her message across. The works also demonstrate other forms of social and political violence and terrorism in contemporary society.
>>Get the message? "I wish to show that art doesn't always have to be beautiful and positive. Being a woman myself, I deeply condemn violence against women in any form. My paintings are a stark representation of what is happening around us, and conveys the message that society needs to change as a whole if we have to tackle this problem. In a nutshell, it follows the theme my voice against violence as a woman," signs off the artist.
