Senior Samajwadi Party leader Natwar Goyal was arrested Tuesday for assaulting a photographer.
Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and Uttar Pradesh Khadi Gramudyog chairman Natwar Goyal, who had beaten up a photographer of a national Hindi daily, was arrested late Tuesday evening on orders of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Goyal was also sacked from his post, which gave him rank of a minister of state, and expelled from the party.
Goyal along with his security guards had beaten up the photographer who had gone to click pictures of an unauthorized building being constructed by him and snatched away his camera.
As soon as the news of the attack spread, angry photographers and media persons gathered and created ruckus at the site. The matter was brought to the notice of the chief minister, who was in New Delhi, and he ordered action against Goyal.
After the go ahead to "take action as per law", the Qaiserbagh police lodged an FIR against the leader and arrested him.
SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhary said the leader had been sacked as the chairman of the UP Khadi Gramudyog and the chief minister, who is also the state president of the Samajwadi party, expelled him from the party. u00a0
