On third day of staff protest against unruly behaviour of three professors, college board suspends two of them
Even as protests by a section of teaching and non-teaching staff members at SP College entered the third day and threatened to escalate, the management of the college stepped in to resolve the issue. On Wednesday, staff members created high drama outside Principal Dilip Sheth's office, demanding action against Vice-Principal Subhash Khandagale and two professorsu00a0-- Praveen Ransure, who heads the students welfare unit, and Saroj Hiremath, BBA course directoru00a0-- for their unruly and abusive behaviour.

The protesters said the trio repeatedly ill treated members of the staff and threatened them with false complaints. They alleged the vice-principal once even slapped a staff member. The problem escalated when Khandagale allegedly abused the principal over the phone on Wednesday. "The college management decided to effect changes in six administrative posts, including that of three vice-principals. They were relieved of additional duties. While the others accepted, these three were yet to do so. On Wednesday, I called him on his mobile to inform him about the changes, but he used abusive language," said Sheth.
Sheth said staffers in his cabin heard him and alerted others, who then demanded action against Khandagale and his two supporters. Yesterday, the college management heard the two parties and issued a suspension order for Khandagale and Ransure. A committee has been constituted to look into allegations by Professor Hiremath. Sources said she had lodged a complaint against Sheth with the Scheduled Caste Commission, alleging atrocity and misbehaviour. Khandagale and Ransure could not be contacted for comment.
