A CBI enquiry has been demanded into the incident in which 70 students from Dr Zakir Hussain Urdu medium primary school in Bopodi fell sick after consuming a mid-day meal.
Local NCP corporator Shrikant Patilu00a0 and Education Board Chairman Sangita Tiwari have demanded a CBI inquiry as they suspect sabotage.
The food was served to nearly 600 children from three different schools on Friday, but only those from Zakir Hussain school complained of abdominal pain and started vomitting.
"The food was prepared by the same self-help group for all three schools," said Patil.
"Most children have been discharged, while some who had fever will be discharged later today," said Tiwari, who visited the children in Sahyadri Hospital. "We have sent the food samples to the board's office. They contained dead insects."
The Khadaki police have registered a case against those who prepared the food at the self-help group Adarsha Dakwa, Vandana Gaikwad (45) and her son Narendra (25).
