Mitra was granted bail by a lower court on October 31, nearly 11 months after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for his alleged complicity in the multi-crore scam.
With the CBI appealing against the bail, the Calcutta High Court on November 5 directed that Mitra be kept under house confinement till the disposal of the matter.
Indicted by the agency of cheating, conspiracy and criminal breach of trust, Mitra was arrested on December 12 last year by the CBI.
