It had become unbearable for the residents living in J-1 Block of Kalkaji.u00a0 Reason: a stinking smell emanating

from one of the apartments in their block.

"We knocked the door, but nobody replied. We then informed the police and they broke open the entrance door and discovered Samali's dead body lying in the bathroom. We had last seen her on Friday evening," added the resident.

According to the police, there were injury marks on the backside of Samali's head. The cooler and the lights were on and a washing machine stuffed with clothes and water was kept near the bathroom door. She was 34-year-old.

"It can be a case of accidental death, but we can only confirm after looking at the postmortem report," said a police officer.
Samali hailed from West Bengal and was working in a private firm in Okhla.u00a0 She was unmarried and was living alone in the rented apartment.
