Utkarsh Sahu, 17, allegedly shot dead the two with the service revolver of his father Rama Shankar (47), a head constable. He then injured himself in order to misguide the police. The incident happened in the police lines colony at Mahanagar.
"He (Sahu) told us that some unidentified assailants killed his father and grandmother, but we have clinching evidence suggesting the teenager himself committed the double murder," inspector R.K. Gupta told reporters here.
"Sahu, a student of Mahanagar Boys Inter College, Lucknow, later confessed to the crime and is being treated for his injuries at a hospital. He is out of danger," he added.
Sahu told the police that he committed the crime in a fit of rage as his father and grandmother frequently scolded him for not studying.
