The Delhi-bound IndiGo flight 6E190 from Mumbai was diverted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) International Airport, Ahmedabad, after the right side windshield of the plane cockpit had developed a crack on Wednesday evening.

The plane departed from Mumbai airport at 3.37 pm and was scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 5.55 pm. The plane instead landed at SVP airport at 4.39 pm.

The pilot on board did not want to take any chances and asked for permission to divert the flight to Ahmedabad airport, said aviation sources in Delhi.u00a0

There were 114 passengers on board and they had to be accommodated in another plane to resume their journey to Delhi. An IndiGo official confirmed: "Due to a technical reason, the plane had to be diverted. However, all the passengers were safe and accommodated in another flight."

On Tuesday, passengers of a Kolkata-bound IndiGo flight had a bad experience when their flight got delayed at SVP airport following a bird-hit just before take-off. No casualty was reported, but one of the tyres of the aircraft got badly damaged during the incident.
