Rapper's show in the city went without a hitch yesterday after the controversial track from movie 'Boss', named 'Party All Night', was removed from the song list
Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh had the crowd on its feet at au00a0concert in his first ever performance in the city at the Balewadi sports complex yesterday. The show had been clouded in controversy after the city unit of the Shiv Sena had called for a ban, threatening agitation if the singer performed any ‘vulgar’ songs.
But, after the show organisers submitted a list of the songs to the Sena city chief Sham Deshpande on Saturday, the party relented and agreed to allow him to perform in the city.

Sena had threatened on Thursday to cancel Singh’s show after they said that his ‘vulgar’ songs would spoil the city’s culture. MiD DAY had published a report on the issue (‘Honey Singh makes state government richer by Rs. 15 Lakh, but Sena demands ban’, December 13).
“We went through the song list and then told the organisers to remove the song ‘Party All Night’ which has raunchy lyrics. However, after the organisers assured us that they would ensure Singh would not sing this particular song, we allowed them to go ahead with the show,” said Sena city chief Sham Deshpande.
He added that despite assurances, Sena workers kept a vigil at the venue to make sure the organisers kept their promise.u00a0“We kept to our word and the song was dropped. Singh didn’t perform it in yesterday’s event,” said Keshav Naidu, the coordinator of Dovlin Entertainment Private Limited, the show’s organiser.
In October, a practising lawyer filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court asking how the song was released with such a vulgar word without the censor board’s approval.
The plea also contended that the song contained a vulgar word. Delhi High Court then reportedly instructed the filmmakers to drop the objectionable content.
However, the Delhi HC later disposed of a PIL seeking a stay on release of Akshay Kumar-starrer Boss after its producer told them that the objectionable word in the song sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh in the film, has been muted.u00a0
