Kalbadevi's just opened Silver emporium brings you quaint and contemporary gifting ideas for the upcoming festive season
Legend has it that Greek king Midas had the power to turn everything he touched into gold. Silver Emporium, a new store at Kalbadevi, provides a glimpse into what his palace would have looked like if he was blessed with the "silver" touch. Walk in and get ready to be dazzled by the precious metal. Even the walls here are lined in silver detailing.
Other than the conventional silver items (deities and jewellery), this store stocks quaint jewellery cases, sindoor boxes, kettles, watches, wall clocks, chandeliers, photo frames, pens, jugs and trays. The range is crafted in Delhi and Jaipur by traditional artisans.
If you want to go bling and harbour visions of living in a room lined in precious something, they can silver-line your walls, even your furniture, or customise any item for you. Prices vary depending on the day's silver prices.
We liked the lotus-shaped lock with keys (Rs 7,872), that would make an ornate curio to place on a coffee table or wooden trunk. The silver purses (Rs 12,150) and clutches are a tad heavy, but fancy enough to add a Jodha-Akbar touch to an evening ensemble. The cute pumpkin boxes (Rs 4,950) can be used to store supari or
dry fruits.
A bit of advise: It might help if some of the scores of attendants milling around had a better clue about product details and prices which they would readily share with customers rather than us having to stalk them.
