Our first brush with South Indian food was the neighbourhood Madrasi joint that used to sell snacks as idli-dosa as main course.
Yummy that it was, and cheap, that was all we thought there was to South Indian cuisine till we grew up and got better informed. There are South Indian chains now in our metro cities that serve you delectable fare, but most of us still opt for the tried and tasted.
