Ganeshotsav will not affect your mobility in the city as the traffic police have a plan in place to ensure no major roads are blocked during the 10-day celebrations.
Best of all, the website of the city police will have real-time display of parking restrictions and other traffic updates.
The traffic police will close roads only if absolutelynecessary, and that too for as little time as possible.
As it is the biggest festival in the city, involving hundreds of big and small Ganesh groups called mandals as well as household and housing society Ganpatis, Ganeshotsav makes road travel chaotic every year.
Unscheduled traffic diversions and unforeseen blocks at various places mean motorists face uncertain twists and turns in their path before they reach their destination.
With planning, and the availability on the Internet of not only the overall plan but also any spot changes made to it, the situation of the past years will not be repeated this Ganeshotsav. The need for such a move was felt as
the number of Ganesh groups only keeps increasing by the year, resulting in more and more processions on the roads.
"We are making an effort to keep all roads open for regular traffic during the 10-day festive season," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil.
"Still, at some places, roads may be required to close, but we will ensure that it will be for minimal time."

Maps on police site
The officer said people will know where parking spaces are available by looking at maps on the police website.
"We have studied all parking spaces in the city.
Now the maps of all areas remain to be uploaded on the website of the traffic branch, which is under construction. For now, the maps will be available on the website of the Pune Police," Patil said.
"Once the maps are uploaded people will get real-time updates on the available parking spaces and other traffic updates."
Patil added that people could get information about the distance in kilometres and time required to reach their destination directly from the real-time data available on the website.

"This will help them plan their route, thus avoiding adding to snarls by keeping away from roads where traffic is building," said Patil,
