NUH/Itanagar/Guwahati: The Congress-BJP war of words escalated yesterday, with Congress president Sonia Gandhi charging the BJP with indulging in “politics of hate” and BJP leader Narendra Modi accusing the Congress of making “false promises”.

Gandhi was speaking at an election rally in Nuh in Mewat district of Haryana while Modi made the comments addressing rallies in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Without taking Modi’s name, Gandhi told a gathering that the BJP was misleading the people to grab power. Modi, addressing rallies in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, accused the Congress of making false promises.
Modi also slammed Sonia and Rahul Gandhi for the attacks on the people from northeast in Delhi.
Leaders of both the parties are focusing on the northeast now as it will kick off the first round of the Lok Sabha polls beginning April 7.
Five of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam and one of the two in Tripura will see polling on April 7.
