The incident took place right opposite the Dapodi police chowky. Aslam (22), a passerby said that the body was lying unattended on the road despite a large crowd gathering on the road. "I was calling out to the onlookers to help but no one came forward. After half an hour the ambulance arrived and the police transported the injured to the hospital," said Aslam.

The victim was then taken to the Sahyadri Hospital half a kilometer away, where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:45 pm. Dr. Shaltiyal Sathe said that had the victim been brought a little earlier, chances of saving his life would have been higher. Vitkar too suffered superficial injuries on his face, and severely cut his lower lip.
