The future of around 800 students studying at Sir Parshurambhau (SP) Junior College has become uncertain after the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education's (MSBSHSE) Pune division withdrew recognition to the college yesterday
The board has also, with immediate effect, stopped accepting online forms of the students appearing for HSC examination scheduled in February 2014.u00a0

The move comes after the college allegedly issued fake HSC mark list to one of its Science stream student after the February 2013 HSC results were declared. The Pune divisional board officials found that the mark sheets is fake, following which they asked the college to immediately lodge a police complaint so that the matter is investigated thoroughly to unearth any racket.
Board officials said that the college was reluctant to pursue thematter and after getting no response from the college authorities, a decision to derecognise the college was taken yesterday.u00a0“The HSC results were declared online on May 30 last year and students received the mark list through their respective junior colleges on June 6. One student of SP College claimed that while his online result displayed 71 per cent, the mark list he received from college showed 95.95 per cent.u00a0
However, when we cross-checked the mark list we found it is bogus,” said Pushpalata Pawar, secretary, MSBSHSE, Pune. “After confirming that the mark list was fake, the result of that student was termed void and we banned him from appearing for HSC exam for next five years,” Pawar said.
Opposing the stern action, the student approached the Bombay HC, claiming that it was SP College who had issued him the mark list and hence should revoke its action. “The court judgement, upheld the punishment,” Pawar said.
Despite the shocking development, the management has not bothered to respond to the divisional board’s demand to file a police complaint, as the student belongs to SP College.
“I have been consistently following up the matter with SP College. We sent them a show cause notice and 20 letters asking them to lodge an FIR. The last notice was sent to them on Nov 22, asking them to respond within 48 hours. But, after we received no reply we finally took a decision to derecognise the college,” said Pawar.
Meanwhile, SP College management is claiming that board is unnecessarily targeting the college. Shikshan Prasarak Mandali’s Vice President Anant Mate said, “The court has not blamed SP College. The college’s role is to issue mark lists to students after receiving it from the board. Therefore, how can the college be responsible if any student has produced a fake mark list? We are going to file writ petition in the high court against state board’s action against the college.” u00a0
