At 6 pm, Bharathi, a resident of Amruthnagar, put on the stove to cook dinner when it burst and she was engulfed in flames. On hearing her screams, neighbours came to her rescue.

She was then rushed to Victoria Hospital where doctors said she has suffered 70 per cent burns.
Ashwat, one of the neighbours,u00a0 said, "We threw water on her and doused the fire."
Bharathi's mother, Laxmi Narshim had come to visit her daughter from yesterday. "To see my daughter in this condition is what I least expected," she said.
