"Soumyadip Mahato (18) has been detained for interrogation as part of inquiry into the case that sparked a lot of controversy," police said.
The state's Technical Education and Training Minister Ujjal Biswas told PTI over phone that the student should be questioned over how the photo of a dog was in the admit card in place of his picture for the ITI entrance examination which was cancelled yesterday due to question paper leak.
"The student filled up the form with his photograph pasted on it and he signed it by himself. He should be questioned on how it happened or what could be the possibility behind this," Biswas said.
"If the student himself is found guilty, he will be arrested," the minister said. Mahato had earlier claimed that he found the dog's photo when he downloaded the admit card for the ITI entrance examination from the official website on Saturday. His name, address and other details, however, were correct.
Mahato, who passed higher secondary examination this year, contacted the nodal officer for conducting the examinations in the area and was assured of assistance.
ater the dog's photo was removed from his admit card. Mahato could have appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CET) under West Bengal State Council for Vocational Training with the new admit card yesterday, but the examination was cancelled because of question paper leak.
The examination is scheduled to be held again on July 5.
