The fresh lease of life that B S Yeddyurappa has got as chief minister will be long lasting only if he takes appropriate measures to counteract the effects of unfavourable planetary positions, says an astrologer who claims he had predicted his 'temporary survival.'
Diavagna Somayaji, a high-profile soothsayer, claims he had said Yeddyurappa would stay the chief minister for at least three months more when everyone was thinking the sky had fallen on him.

But he says it will not be easy for Yeddyurappa to complete his full term because of the planetary positions.

But Somayaji does not rule out the possibility of Yeddyurappa overcoming these challenges.
"He can easily overcome the difficulties if he performs some rituals," said the astrologer. "The rituals will act as a remedy, as his planetary positions are not favouring him."
He was not sure whether the chief minister would take his suggestion.
But he said Yeddyurappa has taken his advice in the past, having visited the Kukke Subramanya temple to ward off 'Sarpa Dosha,' or serpent evil caused by the position of celestial bodies.
Coincidentally, a snake appeared at the residence of Karunakara Reddy, one of the two mining baron Reddy brothers, who were leading the rebellion in the BJP against Yeddyurappa before the peace pipes were brought out. Reportedly, a pillar also broke down when Reddy went to inaugurate a temple in his home district of Bellary.
"It looks like just a coincidence, but these incidents bear serious meaning," said an astrologer close to the chief minister's family. "Yeddyurappa takes elders' advice seriously and I hope this attitude will save him from all the dangers."
B Y Raghavendra, Yeddyurappa's son and member of Parliament from Shimoga, said, "We believe in god. And though I won't say astrology will save us from peril, we still obey the elders as it is our culture."
