It is also rumoured that the deputy mayor chose not to begin work on Saturday as his astrologers told him that the day would be inauspicious.

He followed our advice," said Bhat.
I have examined the vastu of his office," added Subramanya Bhat. "It is perfect. He has good phase, which begins on May 2. His faith in astrology and vastu will make his days better."
However the deputy mayor's personal staff denied the latter charted his moves on basis of astrology.
"He performed rituals as it was his voters' wish," explained N Nandagopal, private secretary to the deputy mayor. "It's not true that he works on the advice of astrologers."
