A 22-year-old man kidnapped and stabbed his 19-year-old girlfriend of four years because she refused to marry him. A belligerent crowd later beat up the man and handed him over to the Bhuinj police after they saw the bleeding woman lying on the road.
The suspect, identified as Vinayak Vilas Mirajkar (22) from Bhavani Peth, has a criminal record with three cases registered against him at the Kondhwa police station. The father of the victim has filed a complaint in this regard.
According to the complaint, the kidnapping took place at Kamaldeep Garden lane in Kondhwa Khurd on Saturday around 1 pm. The woman was returning home from her MS CIT classes when Mirajkar approached her. Mirajkar allegedly threatened the woman by brandishing a knife and forced her to sit on his bike.

The injured woman was lying on the road when some passers-by saw her and caught hold of Mirajkar and thrashed him. The Bhuinj police took Mirajkar into custody and the case was then transferred to the Kondhwa police station.
Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Abu Landge admitted the woman to Krantisinh Nana Patil General hospital. She was later shifted to a private hospital.

A case under Section 107 (apprehension of breach of peace and tranquility) of the CrPC has also been registered against Mirajkar.
