The girl, born on June 13 at a private hospital in Imampet mandal of Nalgonda district of Telangana, was sold by her parents through three agents -- Apparao, Prashant and Venkanna -- on June 19 to a person from Khammam district for Rs 20,000, police said.
The trio took Rs 4,000 as commission while the remaining amount was paid to the couple. "The parents were facing financial problems and were even unable to pay the delivery charges of the hospital where she was born. Another reason was that it was their third girl child," said Suryapet town sub-inspector Y Mogalaiah.
No arrests have been made yet.
