Keeping in mind the first anniversary of 26/11 attacks, the Khandala-based Police Training School (PTS) has been imparting special training to their existing 565 women constables.
The state government has offered financial support to the organisation and the female brigade is in the process of strengthening their position to combat emergency situations.
"We have introduced modern training methods to ensure that the women constables can handle difficult situations," Mahesh Ghurye, principal, PTS, told MiD DAY. "The idea is to make our female constables confident. The training programme is certainly helpful and also helps in improving their personality," he added.
The training academy has also upgraded their curriculum to ensure improving good memory, rational thinking and reflex movements. Inculcating qualities with the help of self-hypnosis technique, basic spoken English exercises, computer and Internet communication is also their priority right now.
