Bangaloreans who have been waiting for the Tata Nano will soon see the car hit the city's roads.
Enquiries by MiD DAY have revealed that the first lot of vehicles for Bangalore have already been dispatched from Mumbai and distribution may start next week. Customers who were promised their vehicles in July are likely to get them by mid-August. Interestingly, the Nano's dealers in Bangalore claim they don't know when the first lot will arrive.
Customers MiD DAY spoke to said that the company has kept them up to date about the delivery of the car.

Aslam Gafoor, who has been allotted a Nano, said, "I have got a confirmation letter from Tata motors saying that I have been selected and my allotment is due in the month of September. I am getting regular feedback from the company on the status."
However, city dealers of the car claim that they have received no information on the Nano's arrival, presumably in keeping with Tata Motors' air of secrecy surrounding the car.u00a0
u00a0According to an official at Concorde Motors, "We were supposed to get the first lot of Nano vehicles in July, but so far we haven't received any information regarding this from Tata Motors. Many customers are calling us to know the status. The next round of bookings will start only in 2011. We may get the vehicles in mid-August or September, the details have been kept secret. We don't even know which dealer will get the first lot, it could either be Concorde or Prerana."u00a0

Speaking on selection of applicants, Mallya said, "Names have been selected through random computer selection. Those who have been selected have already been informed via email and SMS through the head office. The next round of bookings will start only after the first one lakh cars are distributed."
