Blue frog is celebrating its 1,000th gig weekend with the Talvin Singh Festival. Electronica fans, don't miss it
The UK-based tabla player, composer and producer, Talvin Singh is coming to town and bringing with him some of his favourite international collaborators.
As part of the festival, catch Talvin perform with Murcof, a Mexican Electronica artist, and Erik Truffaz, a Jazz musician. The three first joined hands at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2006, playing live, each on his instrument: Murcof on the laptop, Truffaz on the trumpet and Singh on the tabla. They came up with some fantastic pieces that definitely deserve to be re-experienced.
In 1995, Talvin set up the Anokha Club Night at East London's Blue Note, where Drum and Bass DJs and South Asian punk bands mashed up with his percussions. On day two of the festival, listen to Talvin perform Anokha sets that eventually inspired The Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale and a whole new generation of Electro-Acoustic producers.
