THE GUIDE met up with a father-son duo who are set to recreate the magic of Pink Floyd
It's all in the family for Firoze Mistry and his son Nosh, who will be recreating the Pink Floyd musical experience for Punekaris. They call themselves Shine On, perhaps inspired by Pink Floyd's famous song Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
Nosh has come down from Australia, where he is currently based, and father and son have decided to put together this event. "Nosh plays the guitar and I'm on the keyboard and vocals. We could have got formed a band together but there were problems on the way," states Firoze.u00a0

They chose to sing tracks by Pink Floyd as they have been admirers of the iconic band and have been playing their tracks for many years. While musicians today have a lot of options, it wasn't that easy earlier, reminisces Firoze. "I've been playing since the age of 4. I literally had to make a guitar for myself when I was 12, in order to play."
Surely, Firoze is excited about his gig, which he terms as a "challenging project". Their line-up of songs will include Pink Floyd's lesser-known songs. "You go anywhere and you hear people play songs like A Brick in The Wall, but nobody tackles other songs. That's what we are going to do. This concert will give an opportunity to youngsters to hear older songs," he states.u00a0
Firoze admits that he was drawn to Pink Floyd due to their lyrics, which he finds to be very meaningful and down-to-earth. "Listen to The Wall or The Dark Side of The Moon. The music complements the lyrics very well," he says.
Other than Pink Floyd, Firoze says he was inspired by other musicians like Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra and The Beatles as well.
Apart from music, which Firoze likens to meditation, his other hobbies include photography, which his son has taken to as well.
