The day Delhi froze

Strangely on Workaholic's Day, (yeah, they do have a day dedicated to drudgery too), India stood stand still due to NDA and Left parties' Bharat Bandh protesting the price hike. During one of the largest shutdowns India has seen since a very long time, Mumbai, Patna, Lucknow and other major cities worn a deserted look. But Delhi as different as always handled the bandh in it's own way. MiD DAY, roving around the city ran a check on, how Delhiites faced the day.

Hectic like hell
Delhi's BJP's general secretary Parvesh Sahib Singh started his day with a meeting with the senior leaders of his party. He was assigned to stop the metro at Rajiv Chowk and he did just that with his 150 young protestors. "Then I got arrested with my party workers and spent an hour at the police station. After the legal formalities I was released and then I headed to Khan Market, we requested the people to shut shop and burnt effigies and shouted slogans," says Singh.

A day curtailed
"It seemed like an incomplete day to me," complains fashion designer Puja Nayyar. "It was full of inconveniences, my workers had problem commuting, important business meeting had to be cancelled because people couldn't reach on time and essential things couldn't be procured because shops were shut today," she adds.
"The cause was good but the method was definitely wrong," she said.u00a0u00a0

Amitabh ke saath
Like most Delhiites 27-year programmer analyst, Aditya Gupta's day started with the dilemma of either to risk going to work or stay at home. "The stone pelting and tyre burning protestors on my way to work seemed to overwhelming to spoil a beautiful day on so I simply chose to spend the day lazing at home. While my friends kept playing teenpatti and catching up on football highlights, I sat down and saw back to back all Amitabh Bachchan movies and learnt all the dialogues," says Aditya.
