Pacharne was apprehended in a theft case reported at Baramati city police station. He was produced in a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
He was brought to Hadapsar from Baramati by an ST bus, and was being taken to Yerawada via a PMPML bus by a police constable.
When the vehicle slowed down near Poona Golf Club due to traffic congestion, Pacharne overpowered the constable and fled.
Speaking to MiD DAY, inspector Sunil Deshmukh said, “We received a tip-off from our sources that Pacharne was arriving at Gunjan Chowk, and was planning to travel to Ahmednagar.
Primary interrogation has revealed that he broke the handcuffs with someone’s help and escaped from police custody, as he was not getting bail. We have recovered some mobile handsets from him.”
“When produced in court, Pacharne was again remanded in judicial custody. The Yerawada police will further investigate to find out about the accused’s accomplices who helped him after his escape,” Deshmukh added.u00a0
