Human trafficking is a massive problem in our country with around 3 million women falling prey to trafficking annually. Keeping these shocking statistics in mind, Shapath, the CSR wing of Symbiosis, has organised an inter-collegiate drama competition based on the theme of human trafficking. The competition will include four colleges including Symbiosis Institute of Management and Human Resources, Indian Law Society, Wadia College and Fergusson College.

Abhijeet Dhere, a fourth year student at ILS, states that the highlight of their play is on both the non-acceptance of these destitute women in society as well as on the taboo topic of women foeticide. Sirisha, a second year student of MBA at Symbiosis adds that the plays will be very realistic. "They are all inspired by real incidents. After interacting with the workers and NGOs at Budhwar Peth, we have piled case studies which we will also be presenting."
This street play competition is a first-time attempt by many colleges. That's not all; Shapath also takes up the cause of supporting rehabilitation of these victims and this is an effort in that direction. The plays will be judged by theatre personality Unith Kothawala and Priya Kher, member of Shapath.
