The Anandam Association of Salunke Vihar Road attracts 15,000 visitors for its Puja celebrations

Anandam Association, located in Salunke Vihar Road, is a socio-cultural association formed in the year 1995. Anandam celebrates Durga Puja every year with a lot of fanfare.
Anindya Mukerjee, the president, said: "Our Durga pratima was made by Keshto Pal at Bhosalenagar, who had come from Bengal to make it for many mandals in the city."u00a0
Anandam has been celebrating Durga Puja for the last six years. During the five days of Durga Puja celebration, it attracts 10,000 to 15,000 visitors. The attraction is the combination of cultural activities and puja which is organised and managed by member families. "Ours is a gharva puja, meaning it is a homely affair," Anindya said.
Their vice-president Pralay Ghosh said: "This year theu00a0 pandal is bigger. The thakur (idol) is one piece, which we call dhakersaaj."
Madhumita Ghosh, who heads the cultural activities, said: "This is our 15th year and as a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, we are performing a dance drama, Bhanushingher Padabali. This will be choreographed by Adrija Sen and Ankita Saha. I have directed the programme and music."
The festivities started with Anandamela, a food festival on October 12. Today there wil be a Bengali drama by local talents.u00a0 On October 16, which is navami, there will be a musical evening by Indranil Sen, the popular Bengali singer.u00a0
