A robbery attempt on a 43-year-old Dombivli resident has left the woman battling for life at the Criti Care Hospital in Thane
The incident occurred on Thursday evening between Ghansoli and Rabale when Aarti Golapkar was on her way home. She had boarded a Thane-bound train from Kopar Khairane where she works at a readymade garment outlet.

Her fellow passengers said that a boy tried to hook her bag when the train had slowed down between Ghansoli and Rabale. As Golapkar was standing at the door, she too got pulled out of the compartment and fell onto the tracks.
“Eyewitnesses said that a person using a hooked bamboo tried to pull her bag. Unfortunately, she lost her balance and fell onto the tracks. The thieves made away with her jewellery, including a mangalsutra,” said Parshuram Karyakarte, senior inspector from Vashi GRP. He added that a similar incident had occurred at Ghansoli station last year, but the victim sustained only minor injuries.
Battling for life
Doctors at the hospital said that Golapkar’s chances of survival were slim and they could not locate either her pulse or blood pressure. Dr Madhukar Rathod said the woman was critical at the time of admission to the hospital. “She has suffered head injuries. In fact, the back portion of her skull is damaged. She’s brain dead and her chances of survival are next to impossible.” u00a0
